i have a 2010 silverado and mine is mounted on the underside of the dash like you showed. it doesn’t really get in the way of the passengers.

I'd put it floor mount up against the front of the seat. it'll be behind the legs if anyone sits center, and you can see it if it goes bad

you could cut out a spot in the middle and make it flush with a brakit holding it. or if you go with the center you could put a spring underneat
