Experimenting with the
Experimenting with the "Dual Morphing Phaser" card (made by Destiny+ @kirkisssss for the @buchlausa Easel Command. In this patch I'm using low frequency spike waves on the Easel to ping the phasers, creating a strange resonant percussive sound world. I was honestly surprised (and delighted) by how much this altered the sound and character of the Easel; I found myself patching the Easel in completely new (to me) ways, and discovering new corners of the instrument I hadn't considered before. It got me thinking a bit about the process of "getting to know" a new module or instrument in your setup. Whenever I add a new tool into my workflow, I tend to approach it in a few different ways... There's the obvious step of getting to know how it sounds on it's own, of course. And then combining it with other instruments / tools to see how they can integrate with one another... But the aspect of working with something new that always inspires me the MOST is exploring how it might impact my overall approach to sound design and interaction, on a much higher level. What new techniques + ideas does this device inspire me to explore, that I may have completely overlooked before? How can I take that idea and implement it on other instruments / modules / devices I have? What else have I been missing? 🙃 With that approach, you find yourself not only with one new tool that does a few new things, but with dozens of new techniques, ideas, and workflows you get to explore on new AND old instruments alike... 🧡 #modularsynth #sounddesign #musicproduction #buchla #musiceasel #synthesizer #experimentalmusic
