🧬Indigenous Egyptian🧬 ~ It is absurd to live in a world where I must constantly justify WHO I AM and WHERE I COME FROM. Again and again, I am forced to defend something that should never have to be defended but I will do it every single time, not just for myself, but for the sake of my bloodline and my people. Let me be clear: I am NOT West African, and I am NOT Central African. I come from Ancient Egypt and North Africa, from a time before the region was reshaped by foreign invasion and colonization. And this isn’t based on vague belief. I have legal government documents to prove it. Not all those enslaved came from West or Central Africa. That is a historical oversimplification that erases people like me. In the 1800s, my ancestors fled Muhammad Ali’s regime, after enduring Arabization following the Arab invasions. Many were captured and enslaved during the Barbary Wars of the early 19th century. The document I have was filed by the government who enslaved us. It is nearly 200 years old and it is not opinion, speculation, or myth. It explicitly identifies us as ANCIENT Berbers, a term used deliberately to distinguish us from the modern Amazigh of the Maghreb. They used this classification because “Ancient Berber” does not refer to a modern nation, meaning no one could claim us, and no nation could come to our defense. This document even references George Gliddon’s Ancient Egypt, affirming our identity as the people of Ancient Egypt, depicted in different hues of brown, which are the very shades found in the original murals, carvings, and tombs of Kemet, reflecting us as Kemites. The lie is that the enslaved lost everything. But some things cannot be lost. Identity is spiritual. Lineage is embedded in the blood. I knew who I was long before I ever saw this document. This paper is not the source of my truth, it is the evidence of what was done to my people. So the next time someone tells me I don’t know where I come from, I will remind them: I never forgot. It’s just taken the world this long to catch up. #Egypt #Egyptian #AncientEgypt #AncientEgyptian #AncientKemet #Kemet #Barabra @RA𓋹
