Hospice is to pass peacefully, not keep alive and be miserable! Thanks for all you do 🥰

They suctioned my dad...and it broke my heart. It was the only time I could tell he was truly in pain his last couple of days before he passed. ☹️

I just rolled my husband on his side and all the fluid poured out of his mouth and he never made that sound again and passed a few hours later.

Thank you so much for the explanation! They always tell us to suction the airway but it makes sense that the hospice setting has different rules.

I’ll never forget the sound of them suctioning my moms airway in her coma before she died

This is so true, Penny, the hospital tried to suction the secretions from my Mother, even though she was unresponsive , this procedure was horrible!

Spot on Penny. Nothing worse than making end of life painful

Even moist swab mouth cares can be an unnecessary choking risk in the final hours as you know. It’s natural, not neglect.

What is the gurgling sound that a dying person makes? They can continue to breath for a while after the gurgling stops.
