chemical sunscreens absolutely do cause coral bleaching. I work in HI in the conservation field and chem sunscreens are definitely a problem.

They do hurt corals. That’s why you should go in the water and then apply sunscreen after you’re done. Or wear eco friendly biodegradable sunscreen.
