Why do many cars not have oil pressure gauges? Is install simple like connect an aftermarket gauge to the oil pump?

What if the oil light is on, you’ve got full oil, just replaced the sensor 6 months ago, but there’s no weird sounds to indicate it’s the oil pump.

I had a 76 f150 that even with a high flow pump, dropped to 4psi at idle... the previous owner hadn't taken care of it at all.

Actually that’s how I got people to understand oil pressure was compacting it to blood pressure and when your oil life monitor is a 0% your dead.

Had this same issue on my 2012 F150, new oil pressure sensor and has been good ever since. Heard the oil pumps on the 5.0L can be problematic however.
