*repost Taking young kids hiking is both magical and hard. Just getting out the door is an entire journey in and of itself. Ensuring each child has socks, shoes, proper clothing, sun protection, water, snacks, and more- then making sure that you have the means to carry them if needed and then getting them loaded into a vehicle to drive to the trailhead is a process! But, when you see the excitement over a little stream, a chipmunk or the picnic you packed- it all feels worth it (usually 😆). Watching them as they take pride in their accomplishments is always a highlight for me as well. A few weeks ago we did a hike and it was much hotter than anticipated, and I realized we were very low on water, so I told my girls that we weren't going to complete the hike that day and would instead head back to the car early to get backup water. My 4 year old was not happy with me and was sad that she didn't get to complete it all herself again. She is proud of her accomplishments and strengths and it's nice seeing how excited she is to do a hike and get better and better. If you're a hiking family, did your little ones enjoy your hikes from the beginning? I think one of the most common

If you're a hiking family, did your little ones enjoy your hikes from the beginning? I think one of the most common "negative" comments I get is that I should just stay home and let them play or take them to a park. But, we do those things and they love it- but, they also love hiking! And sometimes as parents, we get to do things we enjoy too. It's just always awesome when we all enjoy it! #hikingadventures #hikingwithbaby #mountainmama #babywearing
