This isn’t your typical postcard castle with obedient roses and sunshine on command. Built in 1911 by Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino—a man so rich he made Versailles look frugal—this place was meant to intimidate. Neo-Romanian architecture flaunting its bravado like an aristocrat’s smirk. And that view? It’s not a view—it’s a confrontation. The Heroes’ Cross, stabbed into Caraiman like a defiant punctuation mark, reminds you that even stone has stories, and some sacrifices never stop echoing. Here, weather isn’t background—it’s character. The rain doesn’t fall. It writes. You stand there, drenched and small, feeling more alive than a dozen dry lives put together.
