Counting cals was toxic for me and is for a lot of other people. You can make great progress without counting cals.

Aim for roughly 1g per lbs of body weight in terms of protein. If you want better performance, bias your macros towards higher carb.

It’s important to monitor the ratio of your fats and carbs too. If you are eating very little fat and very high sugars you won’t as healthy.
