I saw it and he did the service side luckily. If he knew anything about it he could have applied brakes and put vise grips to hold rod first.

you can change the internal diaphragm in the service side as long as it's caged its not too dangerous.

the clamp you loosen to turn it isn't dangerous that's the service side.. the front part is the emergency that's the dangerous side

I always make sure if I have to change the piggyback, that A. The brake is caged completely or B. Air is supplied to the park chamber.
