I never imagined meeting my baby would look like this. After a long and emotional pregnancy — including a car accident at 30 weeks and scan after scan where they couldn’t get a clear profile of her face — I thought the hardest part was behind me. But when she was born via C-section, everything changed. She had a tumour in her mouth. It was a complete shock. No one had seen it coming. No warnings. Just panic, confusion, and then — separation. We were transferred in separate ambulances. I was taken to one part of the hospital. She was taken to another. I didn’t even get proper cuddles after birth. No skin-to-skin. No chance to look at her properly or hold her tight. Just emptiness. That night I lay in a hospital bed — stitched, sore, and completely heartbroken — while my baby was in NICU. I couldn’t see her until the next day. I remember forcing myself out of bed the next morning, barely able to stand upright, just to shuffle my way to NICU and finally see her little face. I didn’t get to hold her properly until day three. She spent five days in NICU — and although we’re so lucky that she’s completely fine now, I’ll never forget those early days. They were filled with fear, stress, and an overwhelming sense of helplessness. If your journey into motherhood didn’t look how you thought it would… I see you. Some of us met our babies through heartbreak before we ever held them in our arms — and that makes us strong in a way only we understand. #raisingawareness #congenitalepulis #csectionrecovery
