Why pay £200,000 for a house that materials only cost £80,000 to build. It's better to buy land and build it without a bank involved, saves a fortune.

Disagree. Rent is twice my mortgage. I have 50k equity on my mortgage. If I lose my job, I sell and get 50k to rent until I get another job.
