there isn't a drinking age in France, there's a buying age, 18, but that's it

Drinking age in Spain used to be 16, now it’s 18 but it’s not frowned upon if you have a little wine or champagne when you’re with family.

You're not taking your id with you? I'd look up what the law regarding that is. In Austria for example you need to have an id on you as foreigner

That's because in France and also in Italy people don't drink to get drunk, they drink to enhance the taste of foods. Huge difference.

In Belgium you get carded if you buy alcohol in a store, but only if you look like you're younger than 25

Germany is 16 for beer and 18 for liquor. People can handle their alcohol much better. The polizei can take your blood on the spot when pulled over.

I think it has to do with the transportation system in the US vs Europe. Correct me if I’m wrong . But Europe has a better transportation system

I was carded once in France at a Monoprix but I think it was just because the caissière was mean lol

The drinking age is 18 but I've never been carded ever. The first time I got completely drunk was 16 and I was a late bloomer compared to my friends.

when I was a kid(70s and early 80s) we had what was called table beer 1,5% alcohol. This was served instead of soda. It's not that popular anymore.
