Yes You are Mexican in Mexico and Us Citizen in the United States because if not you will be treated as a visitor only be allowed to stay temporarily

yes that is how ir is done and your ticket book it as a mexican nationality so you don't get changed 30dls for a visa permit

Also the immigration forms are different so if you enter as a mex citizen and come back as a US citizen they fine you for the wrong form

Only issue is if you get in trouble abroad, and did not enter the country as US citizen you will not get embassy aid.

If you are entering Mexico from an international flight, you need to present your Mexican passport, not just any Mexican ID.
