I'm sure you can unscrew the over flow and turn it round so the hole is at the top not bottom. if you have that kind of overflow

Looks like you need some caulk and/or grout at the front of your tub there. Water damage and mold potential.

you could also loosen the screw on the overflow valve, rotate it 180⁰ and tighten the screw so the opening is at the top! 😁

I found that same item about 8 months ago, best thing ever cause my Sunday bath is about 4 hours long . Try adding about a pound of Dead Sea salt!
