And, if Germany is similar to Norway, teachers don’t need to use their own money (or have parents pay) for school supplies in the classroom.

Wow, I guess teachers in Canada are paid really well. Full time are paid all year. They also have a union that protects them 🇨🇦

Do salaries in Germany stated pretax? Like that’s 91k before taxes right? Taxes there are almost the same as US taxes including insurance premiums?

Sad that the difference between teachers and employees in kindergarden is still so big. They actually do all the basic work before kids go to school.

The idea that we don't make as much in Germany is so crazy. I don't think I earn that much money but I have more money in my bank account at all 1

Curious if the amount schooling you need to be a teacher is similar?

I agree about teachers. The tax rate on 91,500 is 47.5%. 42% applies to income above €57,051 & solidarity tax of 5.5%. Benefits are better in Germany

I think teaches get too much, leading to a lot of teachers in the system who don’t actually like being a teacher. It’s also really hard to switch

Teachers have pensions here and many work another job during the summer elevating their income. How does the school calendar work there?

Your pension normally is not related to your job (it builds up in your job, but you don't loose it whatever happens.
