This is hard for me to post but I always want to keep it real. I share the highlights of my Kilimanjaro summit but I also wanted to share the challenge that I overcame to get to the top. Hiking Mount Kilimanjaro Day 6 🌄🥾@altezza.travel It’s easy to see others accomplishments on social media and compare yourself to it, thinking it’s somehow easier for them and they are different than you and could do it. But I went through an entire rollercoaster of emotions and persevered on this hike. It felt like a “real world” practical application of all the mindset and personal development training I’d been doing. On day 6 things got really real, really fast. I had a panic attack and experienced altitude sickness. Thankfully our guides were so well trained to help me and they truly are the reason I made it. They helped me with mindset AND to physically replenish my oxygen levels. Basically what happened is I got slight altitude sickness, I think I didn’t drink enough water the night before — Then my brain didn’t function properly because the oxygen you have at these high altitudes is 50% of what you have available at sea level So I would look to the peak I started to have a negative spiral in my mind and my mind was trying to talk me out of it. My body was exhausted and my period cramps were literally draining the blood out of me. I started to feel so small and weak compared to the mountains. I basically felt trapped amongst the grandness of it all. It was a really really scary feeling! The guides helped restore my belief and also health with oxygen, electrolytes, and of course I kept taking Diamox and upgraded to the full dose instead of half which id taken before. I love mountain journeys because I can show myself that I am strong, I am resilient, I am courageous AND that connecting with your WHY AND when it’s in service of others is what pulls you through with achieving your big goals. I did this for my mom and all the Iranian women in my ancestry. We can do it. 🫶🏽💗 #mountkilimanjaro #tanzania #hikingadventures #mountainlover #natureadventures #rawvlog
