This absolutely helps that joint. I build loads of wainscot panels. I pre assemble on a table and then install. Those joints will fail without glue.

I do solid mortise and tenon. No screws. Just glue.

been building cabinets for over 20 years, glue will hold it just fine, Brad nails, staples and screws hold it till the glue sets up

I do the same. I worked at a shop for years and we tested all of this stuff. Glue won every time.

Dove tail and mortise/tenon has its place and IMO is finest/strongest. However, time is money and pocket screw joinery with glue is beyond sufficient
