The SAF and the Ministry of Health (MOH) will deploy a contingent to provide medical care to Palestinians and other civilians from Gaza who are being treated in Egypt. This humanitarian medical assistance follows my visit to Egypt earlier this year as part of the seventh tranche delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. I had the opportunity to meet patients from Gaza receiving treatment at local hospitals in Egypt as well as senior Egyptian officials to facilitate Singapore’s contribution to the Gaza patients currently being treated in Egypt. Since then, we have worked closely with the Egyptian government to support and provide medical assistance. I had the privilege of sending off the advance team, which includes personnel from both the Singapore Armed Forces and the Ministry of Health. They will assess the medical needs on the ground in collaboration with local hospitals, medical institutions, and NGOs, paving the way for a medical contingent to be deployed to Egypt in weeks to come. The deployment is expected to last some months this round. Thank you for your professionalism and dedication.
