A quote I’ve lived by is “it takes courage to bloom.” I thank these live photo’s because the person in them- she is genuinely at peace, happy and living her best life. Something I’ve prioritised over the last 5 years and I am finally her. I hope this reaches the same audience who are or have been in similar situations. At the age of 17, I was so lost in life. At the time, I did what I only knew and that was to attend university to make my mum happy. I stuck it out for 2 years and became someone unrecognisable. I was upset, miserable and was scared because I didn’t want to disappoint my mum. I took the courage to take a gap year, told no one and utilised the time to focus on my mental well-being. This allowed me to save, travel and I guess fall inlove with who I was as I lost her. My ultimate goal was still to graduate and to walk across the stage, so I had to ask myself what made me happy? As cliche as this sounds, travel was what made me happy. At the of 17, I wrote under my goals, “To travel as life is too short.” The universe works in mysterious ways but this Travel & Tourism program popped up and now, I’ve graduated with a degree that I love! The 19 year old girl who was so scared and worried about how her life would turn out- it turned out so well even better and I’m so proud of her for taking the leap. Not only that, but for taking the courage to solo travel Europe is one for the books. My love for travelling continues to grow each and every day and to know that it will be my job one day, is an absolute dream come true. Happiness is what comes first. Chase your dreams and continue to live yours accordingly <3
