yeah mine tries to dart any time the door opens. literally on my last nerve with this so I make him go to his kennel whenever I open the door

Why does the word matter? I taught my digs with words and now they know not to. But I started with “wait”. I could have used “blue” if I wanted.

I have 7 dogs & can leave my door open, not 1 come out unless I say it's okay, they like 2 sit and look out but won't move, the cats do the same.

We teach wait with the door open so the door opening isn’t the release, they wait for the command

What about a wait command paired with a release command such as wait then break to release that wait command when ready.
