Most times holding students back does absolutely nothing to help them. The students sit in the same grade level and do the same level of work.

I had to do the 1st grade all over again because I was reading at a Pre-K level. My parents, teacher, and principal fought with the district to hold

My issue is state test. He can pass all his classes but fail the state and don't graduate. Which causes teachers to be teaching for the test.

I did summer school in high school and I loved it, the environment was so different! Didn’t have anxiety going to class during the summer

In MA you can't hold a kid back because it could hurt their self esteem and takes away from additional money they get.

I taught 8th grade last year and I had multiple 15 year olds and even one 16 year old. They struggled to fit in.
