Usage of cheques in South Africa declined to such an extent that it was abolished in 2020. I haven't used a cheque in all my adult life.

🇫🇮 Last check seen some where in early 90s (traveller check). Paycheck comes every month directly to my account. I don't need to do anything.

"Right away" means somthing different for you I think... We transfer in seconds here, acc to acc. No need for cash.

In Australia too. Your pay is direct deposited into your bank of choice here. With any deductions you have set up taken out ie medical, car etc

Yeah, but who still uses cheques? I have not written one for several years. Money is mostly moved electronically these days. I don’t carry cash either

before we mostly got rid of cheques in the UK you just drop it in a machine at your bank and it gives you your money you can take it in hand or accoun
