Red Raspberry Leaves Benefits🌱☕️ With their sweet but slightly tart flavour, raspberries are one of the most popular berries grown in both gardens and allotments alike. 🧑🏼‍🌾 However, the leaves of the red raspberry plant have many benefits too! 🌱 They are a great source of iron and antioxidants, and are often brewed as a herbal tea which has traditionally been used as a diuretic, to help balance hormones, relieve menstrual symptoms and even to ease childbirth by toning the uterus (so I’m reliably informed 😅). The leaves from summer fruiting varieties are best harvested in spring before the energy of the plant is directed into producing and flowers and fruit, although they can be harvested at any point throughout their season. And I either remove a few leaves here and there as to not impact on the plants growth, or prune away unwanted new canes at this point in the season, like these the ones currently growing through my fence from next door. 😂✂️🌱 I then just hang the whole cane somewhere to dry, or individual leaves could be dried in a dehydrator or put on a rack to dry in the sun. 🌱☀️ They will begin to dry out at varying rates depending on the method used, but once they begin to crumble they can be stored in an air tight container until needed. 🫙 Then, I just brew them like any other loose leaf tea and steep in hot water for between 5 and 10 minutes and then just enjoy their many benefits. 😊☕️ So would you try raspberry leaves as well as the berries? 😊 And I’d always suggest doing your own research before using any herbal remedies to ensure they are suitable for you and your circumstances. It is also generally not recommend to use raspberry leaves throughout pregnancy until the third trimester. 😊 #herbalism #herbaltea #gardeningtips #growingfood #vegetablegarden
