By no means, we’re not a professional when it comes to soap making, but we’re here to share how we make our own soap using fresh ingredients like ginger and calendula. If you want a fresh natural scented soap, oil infusion is one of the ways it can be done. Below is our recipe, you can search for a lye calculator online if you’re using other types of oil or if you’re interested in making your own recipe. The soap we made contains 5% superfat Ginger Calendula infused Olive Oil: 1000g Coconut Oil: 1000g Lye (Sodium Hydroxide) : 300g Distilled water: 670g What’s important: Weigh your ingredients for optimum result. Wear long sleeves, gloves, and work in a well-ventilated area when mixing Lye and water solution, the mix can get really hot. Ideally the lye water solution and oil should be at around 130°F or below and within 10° of each other before mixing. Slowly pour the lye water solution over the hand blender.
