@beayogawellbeing: Yin Yoga for Better Breathing. How can Yin Yoga help with our breath? These Yin Yoga postures help us target muscles that are accessory to breathing and often get overused if we feel stressed and agitated. In the neck stretch we are targeting the Scalenes muscles, at the side of the neck. In Bananasana we are targeting the Intercostals, between the ribs. In Supported Fish we are targeting Pectoralis Major, one of the chest muscles, and the Sternocleidomastoid, 2 muscles either side the front of the neck. Although the main breathing muscles is the diaphragm, all of these muscles are helpers (accessory). By specifically focusing on them for a longer amount of time, we can tune in with how we feel in those areas. Yin Yoga also helps us calm the nervous system and slow down the rate at which we breathe, because we hold postures (on average) between 3 and 5 minutes. Depending on the posture and your level of comfort you con hold for a longer or shorter amount of time. Make sure to remain within your edge and avoid pain. #yinyogatips #yinyogateacher #yinyogasequence #yinyogalove #yinyogapose #yinyoga #improvebreathing #betterbreathing #neckstretchings #neckstretching #neckstrech #bananasana #fishposevariation
