And so it begins! The 8 week check-ups. The first big milestone post radiation. The weeks where your mouth has healed and the fatigue is supposed to be lifting, your supposed to be feeling stronger. It’s also finally been long enough that residual radiation should have left the body enough that the machines can get a clear scan of the area that was treated. That means, they SHOULD be able to see if any cancer has not gone away or come back and decide that I’m officially cancer free. Now for me, since the first time I got cancer I passed this scan and found reoccurrence, just weeks later-I have a hard time believing that the same thing isn’t possible. But I do feel more confident this time. My body for the first time in a long time DOES feel like it doesn’t have cancer or be in treatment. It feels like even though at the worlds slowest pace, I’m getting better. That I AM better. So I’m going to keep living my life based off that. Let’s hope next week, I get to move my tassel from the cancer fighter side to the cancer survivor. A privilege I know not all of us get. ❤️❤️💗💗 #headandneckcancerawareness #tonguecancer #cancerfighter #cancersurvivor #radiationandchemo #glossectomy #neckdissection #speechtherapy #notonguejustvibes
