@optimistickitchen: I’m trying to recycle all the soil from my pots so I can use it next year. Please let me know if there’s anything i need to do for it before I mix it woth compost in the spring.💚 #OptimisticKitchen #gardentiktok #ReduceFoodWaste #growfood #growyourfood #victorygarden #pottedgarden #vegetablegarden #growingfoodinpots #growinpots #freshproduce #containergardening #suburbangarden #containergardener #genxgardener #pottingsoileverywhere #pottingsoilsideoftiktok #pottingsoiltiktok #happygardening
👀 Egg shells take up to 2 years to degrade so make sure you roast them and blend them into a powder first , coffee and tea grounds , blend (not to a paste tho) any root veg and fruit skins to add , mix every week or so …….

I put some holes in the bottom of that tote and let it sit outside at least partially uncovered. Snow adds nitrogen to the soil

I would add some compost to it and pelletized fertilizer before you use it.

you can get another tub, drill holes in it and make it into compost using the dirt as dry stuff

When you are getting ready to use that soil. Add some blood meal and bone meal one to one and mix in your soil. This will give it a boost 🤗. Happy gardening.

I’m curious too. I Always just leave the soil in the pots over winter. Then the roots break down and I start over in spring haha.

This is a great idea! I usually just have a ton of containers with dirt in them sitting on the porch all winter...

Screen it to remove roots, etc. Pop the lid on that bin and then place in sunny location for a few weeks before using. The heat will kill most of the bad things out. Also, put into bucket and sterilize with 10:1 hot water and hydrogen peroxide, then strain, use or store

I would put it outside to let the weather break it down some. A clear plastic bag helps to Sterilize the soil. Add some compost and good to go.
