I tried the same drink the other day! Didn’t hate it but I do wish it was a little sweeter?

i’m so tired of how we treat helpers in singapore edit: - there’s nothing hateful about what i’ve said, i literally pointed out a) things she said and experienced & b) provided some perspective on the hardships FDWs experience living here. her video fostered a negative comment section full of nasty comments about certain groups of people and i used it as the basis of starting this discourse. - i do not need to have had a live-in helper to know that no amount of underperformance justifies dehumanisation, classism, racism, or xenophobia. - i’m sorry for the content creator’s difficulty in finding a helper that suited her family, but she could have approached what she said differently. if you don’t like that i stitched her PUBLICLY posted video, you can make your own video like i did and start your own conversation, you don’t have to be rude to me. you will be blocked. - the content creator was not just “sharing her experience”. she was literally talking down certain nationalities, that is unacceptable in any way. - there’s a lot of discourse about how the helper was underperforming but i’m not quite sure how splashing water in someone’s face when they’re clearly having a mental breakdown and laying on the floor might be considered compassionate? treat others as you’d like to be treated. - i’ve had to delete some comments about bringing up the fact that she’s a brown woman, somehow saying i’m the one who’s being racist. FYI, i’m also a POC and an ethnic minority in singapore. i am not speaking out of place nor racist. i have consistently been an advocate in my community (in the real world 🙄), and help people within these groups. there is nothing performative about calling out these uncomfortable and disrespectful social norms.
