This piece is about Palestine. The figure surrounded by death, chained to the certainty of it, can be most easily seen as the Palestinian people being forced to watch as their families are being brutalised, their homes are being destroyed and their land stolen. They are hopeful as they look back at the viewer, someone is finally seeing them. “What will you do to help?” I also wanted to portray the guilt, the feelings of helplessness and the complicity that people from unaffected countries & non-zionist Jewish people feel when faced with the harrowing images coming out of Gaza, as our leaders choose to either do nothing or side with the oppressor. The chains become a metaphor for guilt, as the figure will not—cannot choose to look away. The dead and the figure are all looking back at the viewer with expectancy. “What will you do to to fix this?” Another facet of the piece is the figure as the leaders, the politicians, the journalists, the I0F, and all the powers that have allowed ,and are continuing to support the gen0cide. They are chained to the dead by history and by the colective eye of the world. They are forced to live in a land wet with the blood of the innocent even as they choose to ignore it. The figure looks at the viewer as they’re caught in the act of killing, of stealing, of lying, of idly watching. “Will you do anything?” Off course I’d love for everyone to come up with their own interpretation based on their own experience. Thank you for reading. Free Palestine🇵🇸
