Night waking and feeding are developmentally appropriate through at least 6 months and often beyond. It's not "spoiling" your baby-it's meeting their biological needs. ✅ feed baby every 3 hours and wake them to feed (even at night) until they’re back to birth weight. When they reach birth weight, let them sleep longer stretches at night! ✅ After 2 months, focus on soothing in other ways if it’s been less than 3 hours since last night feed. If it’s been longer, do not feel guilty feeding your baby! (especially first 6 months). ✅ Make it a goal to shoot for proper wake windows during day and FULL feeds each time, setting them up for success at night. This is a strong reason I want moms to be careful with “moms on call” or similar sleep programs, because cutting night feeds early before babe is at least 6 mo will work against us in supply long term. s I’m Leslie, a pediatric NP and mom of 5 bringing you real and practical motherhood and medical content- follow @ask_the_np_mom for more! #infant #babies #newborn #sleeptraining #sleep
