@thenewsagents: Ash Sarkar is in favour of a 7% cap for those privately educated in any public sector role. This number reflects the proportion of Brits who are privately educated- and she says it’ll force Britain to address its ‘embedded classism’.
Taxes would go through the roof if all private sector school kids moved into the state sector. ALL schools should be EXCELLENT.

The workarounds on this policy would be numerous. Get rid of charitable status first and then review in a few years.

This definitely needs to apply to becoming an MP. Only 7% allowed that are privately educated

Would this include all the private schools kids on financial aid and bursaries?

Love the "London" idea. Except that was at the cost of Rural Councils who got screwed on funding. Big rural counties don't vote Labour except the big

This is slightly unforgiving because it means everywhere in the UK would need a 7% privately educated workforce

But then you are limiting the quality of the establishment because private education is a far better rounded educational experience

Silly suggestion. Arbitrary %, not based on merit. Are people prepared to pay extra tax to bring state schools up to scratch or just prefer to moan?

Instead of punishing kids who are lucky enough to have private education, can we not instead reform public schooling to give the majority of kids a better chance?

People who send their kids to private schools should have tax cuts as they are not using state school slots which are factored in taxes!

Not charging BR or vat is not ‘giving’ private schools money. Everyone paying school fees is already paying for a state school place they’re not using
