CPI is for crisis prevention intervention. It should be focused on de-escalation before restraints, BUT everyone remembers the ridiculous restraints and not the de-escaltion part. Also, yeah those restraints are super helpful many times

I worked ABA with an aggressive kid. We had to restrain during meltdowns so he didn't hurt himself, us, or other kids

SPED Para here, daily have to try and de-escalate students before hands on. There is no talking down a child in rage trying to hurt themself or others
