@vanessadyer: MY BABY IS 2 🎈 Not going to lie, this audio hit home for me 🥺 I read somewhere that these are the “mommy” years. The years where overstimulation is very real, the years where the tantrums and tears when you’re overly exhausted are nonstop, and the years where patience is truly tested. But, the “mommy” years are also the years of being their hero, of kissing away any boo-boo in an instant, of them charging at you with excitement the second you walk through the door, of them raising their arms saying “mommy up, mommy up” because they want to be close to you. Their words slowly form I love you (or as Liam says “I Ahh tuuu”)…. and as hard and long as some of the days are, I still examine and take in every tiny little detail of his round little face when he’s falling asleep in my arms at night. We’ve done 728 nights in that rocker, and watching him fall asleep is just as sweet as night 1. The mommy phase is temporary. One day mommy will become mom. Hugs won’t be cool anymore, and when you peek into their room at night, they’ll be yelling “mommm get out of here!”. Life isn’t about me right now. It’s about him. One day there will be more time, more personal space, and better sleep. But that’ll also mean he’ll be closer to not needing me anymore, and for that - I’ll never be ready. So I’m cherishing the mommy phase. Im soaking in every hug, every kiss, every “mommy!!”, every long day, and even the tantrums over not having sausage available for breakfast 🤣 because time is a thief, and I’ll never look back and wish I hadn’t spent the time being grateful for these moments.
