That’s wrong type of strap. You need a solid recovery point matched with a stretch rope aka kinetic. Using a static strap like that shock loads things

I think his point is that.. if the pin is going to fail, it’s just better that it fails with just the strap and not with the hitch.

Quickly, so the pin fails to hold the ball and mount in the receiver but yet the pin alone is strong enough to hold a strap. ODD

The guy was getting pulled with a 12" + drop hitch. I feel like a straight or a 2" drop is perfectly fine. Might even be safer than just the pin.
