@inthemouth_of_madness: These footage are extract from the German documentary « Die Hölle von Ueckermünde » (The Hell of Ueckermünde) released in 1993, forbidden during several years in Germany. In this documentary, we follow young autistics, trisomics and other with mental disorders. some are placed or abandoned by their parents in this psychiatric center. The most affected mental patients underwent a lobotomy. It has been common since the 1940s to place people with mental disabilities in psychiatric centers as if they were tra$h, which society does not want. Catastrophic hygiene facilities, cramped space conditions, caregiver-initiated viol€nce and starvation are the conditions revealed in the documentary. Every evening, the sick were nak€d, mixed between boys and girls, waiting to be washed in 20 seconds by a nurse. They were simply kept alive, given a bed and food. The rest of the time they did nothing, left to themselves in this big psychiatric center. They were not followed by any psychiatrist and had no distractions. They were also given psychotropic d*ugs to see the results it could have on their handicap, they were like laboratory rats. Later, former patients of the psychiatric center will testify to the abus€ they suffered when they were interned.
