@halinkahart: The QL (Quadratus Lumborum) Coming from Latin ‘Quadrus’, it literally translates to ‘Square Loin’ which kind of makes sense if you look at the shape of it (it attaches between the ribs and hips). What does it do? Its primary role is to stabilise your pelvis and spine, so its kind of a big deal. The QL is key in many functions (often left untrained in standard gym routines), but it can also be the culprit of low back pain, shifting to one side in movements & spasms! It performs 4 primary movements: - side bending – the left QL moves the left ribs to the left hip. - Lumbar extension – when contracting bilaterally the QL’s move the lumbar spine into a back bend. - Fixes 12th rib during forced exhalation - Elevates the ilium to which it attaches – the left QL moves the ilium toward ribs on the left side. One awesome exercise for the QL is the HALF KNEELING WINDMILL. What’s your favourite? Comment below ⬇️ Next 12 Week Strength & Mobility Program Starts 6th March 📲 Want more information ℹ️?
