I also run an in home. For my pole, we just dry walled around it and painted it and added the trim, so it looks like the walls!

Get 2 inexpensive, matching blankets. Wrap around post and use packing tape all around. You’ll need 2 to cover the entire post (so 4 in your case).

It’s enough padding to prevent injuries when the kids bang their heads, and makes it impossible to climb. Wel, almost impossible…..😉
