This might be a silly question but when you're interpreting do you translate to ASL gloss or do you sign exactly as someone says something?

I find that working in 1st person causes a distraction sometimes, so I switch to 3rd until the condo is flowing, then switch back to first

I have a Deaf friend, and ASL is like their fourth language and they're still learning, and I know they appreciate simplified translations sometimes

YESSSS! Especially for individuals I know are able to correct this. However, with hearing students I say “you can tell her yourself and I will sign”
