I think it’s safe to say that life has been feeling heavier than usual for most of us. I find that it’s easy to want to curl up inside and shut out the world when I feel overwhelmed. Or dip into bad habits to get a hit of dopamine. For me, it’s doom scrolling but for you, it could be retail therapy aka acquiring clutter 🛍️ But as corny as it sounds, I’ve found that consistently making the effort to get out and touch grass (or sand) can seriously lift some of that weight, even if only temporarily, and give me some relief. It’s not a secret that being surrounded by nature is scientifically proven to improve our mood and lower stress. BUT what I don’t think a lot of us with ADHD know is that it can also improve focus and lower impulsivity 🧠 So next time you’re feeling anxious or like life is just too much and have the urge to bed rot, challenge yourself to plan for some time outside. It doesn’t have to be a day at the beach, it can literally be a 10 minute walk around the block or bringing a book to a park after work (especially if you’re dealing with a heat wave like we are atm, the later in the day the better 🌅) Sure, your problems will still be there but you might be able to handle them with a little more clarity and calm. This is just my two cents as someone who regularly raw dogs her ADHD and anxiety! I never come back after spending some time in nature (especially if people are not involved lol) wishing I hadn’t, I’ll leave it at that 🌊☀️🐚 #adhdtiktok #adhdtok #adhdinwomen #adhdtips #adultadhd
