venoseth :
It would be obnoxious to have to constantly say the 43rd president and 44th presidency

Roger :
There is a difference between being the 44th president and being the 43rd man to take the oath, Cleveland took the oath twice but is only one man

Megan L. :
Reminds me a bit of The Doctor. Tennant was technically the 11th, 12th & now 16th, apparently. But he's known as the 10th .. & maybe 14th? idk 😂

technically it would be more since the president temporary gives their power to the VP during medical procedures for example

Some Random Guy :
Cleveland did it twice nonconsecutively

because Cleveland was the 22nd president and then someone else was 23rd and Cleveland didn't become the 22nd president again

The argument made is dumb. The chiefs won Super Bowl 3, 54, 57 and thus are the 3rd, 54th, and 57th winners. His logic would be they are just the 3rd

1/2 they are only counted twice if they loose re election then win again. 45 lost in 2020 and if he wins in 24 will be 45th and 47th.

Marcus :
He said people who have taken the oath, which now makes me wonder if the VP takes the oath when they are given presidential powers during surgery etc.

Instead of counting the number of people who have served as president, we count the number of times leadership has changed hands

Oddly satisfying :
We actually had 13 presidents prior to Washington under the articles of confederation

John Henson was a president before Washington for Two weeks. So Obama is correct.

And also George Washington was born English. so technically Obama was the 43rd, if you count John Hanson before Washington.

If you count pre constitution it's 52 at the time of this taping, 54 now. 8 men served a one year term before the constitution was ratified. 😁

I agree with the system they have. Not necessarily counting men but changes in leadership, so the gap matters

The 3rd Hokage wasn't called the 5th when he took over after the 4th died.
