Read more about tortoise care below ⬇️🐢 1. Flower baths Ok they don’t have to have flowers, BUT young tortoises need soaked in warm water 3-5x per week for about 10-20mins 2. Saunas Young tortoises need higher humidity than adult tortoises… however TOO much humidity is BAD. I keep the warm side of Figs enclosure around 80% humidity and the other side around 65% 3. A vacation home Tortoises NEED outdoor time and real sun to stay healthy AND 12% uvb bulbs in their indoor enclosure. 4. The finest ingredients Lettuce does NOT cut it for a healthy tortoise. Now, different species require different diets, but grazing species like Fig should get MOSTLY grass, hay, and weeds. Vegetables & leafy greens should make up a small percentage of their diet. Fruits should only be fed as an occasional treat. Every young tortoise needs vitamin & calcium supplements 5. Grow their own food If you can, grow their own grass and weeds… that way you know they’re getting fresh & quality food! ‼️ If you have or plan on getting a tortoise PLEASE make sure you’re prepared to care for them even when they are giants! Tortoises live 50+years, grow VERY big, and need A LOT of outdoor space. NEVER buy someone a tortoise as a gift as I cannot express the amount of work & commitment that goes into being a tortoise parent.
