@questionantiquity: “These were created by the Desert Archaic people, who inhabited this region from 8,000 BC - 500 AD. Unlike other rock art styles in Utah, BCS is predominantly anthropomorphic in nature. These ghostly figures often appear with enlarged heads, bug-eyes, and may or may not have arms and legs. They are often depicted with an animal near them such as a bird, snake, rabbit, sheep, etc. and they are typically tall, up to 9 feet in height. This middle panel takes those typical traits and throws them out the window. This depiction is much smaller than other BCS depictions - only about 2 feet wide and a foot tall, the figures don’t possess the same features as other panels, and the round shape with the animals in it - I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else. Is it the planet with roaming beasts and an atmosphere? Are those hovering alien visitors over earth? Or is this a cell membrane and mitochondrion? It feels like a depiction of the macro or of the macro, both of which are a complete head-scratcher for this art and this culture time period.
