@gaijinpot.travel: This is Amezaiku, a traditional Japanese arts craft in which candy is turned into art. The candy is prepared by heating it to around 90 degrees C(almost 200 degrees F), and then is crafted with bare hands and scissors while it is attached at the top of a stick. It must be finished within a few minutes after being removed from the pot, as candy hardens when cooled. It’s said Amezaiku originated in the 8th century(Edo period), when craftsmen showed their crafting performances on the street to sell. This technique has been passed down over generations, but because of it being a subculture, there is no formal literature with the process description. Nowadays, you can see these products in selected workshops where you can also experience it yourself. #amezaiku #japanesecraft #japaneseart #japanesefood #japanesetradition #visitjapan #tokyo #japan #gaijinpottravel #gaijinpot #ilivehere
