Budae Jjigae (Army Stew) for our first picnic! Budae jjiage is the ultimate comfort food in Korea but it was born out of the Korean war, made from food waste smuggled out of the US amry base in Korea. Hence the interesting combination of Korean and American ingredients. It has a sad history but is also a reminder of our resilience and hardwork that enabled us to rebuild the country in a remarkably short time. For some reason, we were expecting trees full of leaves but spring hasn't fully come yet and it was quite chilly. Today we are eating Korean slow-boiled beef (which is part of Korean Royal Court Cuisine) with mom's mini cucumber pickles and pickled jalapeños (note: jalapeños are not part of Korean cuisine) and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). Also made delicious spicy chives salad (it was super good because Hmart had fresh chives that came directly from Korea this day. Korean chives are thiner and softer than Chinese ones.) #koreanfood #kdrama #mukbang #foodreview

Went East Harbor Seafood Palace in Brooklyn for my sister’s birthday. Guess who enjoyed it the most 😂 As a former Torontonian, this still doesn’t compare to Toronto Chinese food but I think they are one of the best in NYC. Although they are well known for dim sum, their Har gow was good but not as good as other ones in NYC. However, everything else was very good, especially their duck. We preferred lobster with ginger and scallion over than black bean sauce.
