I often get comments saying “Search up Mike Mentzer training and you’ll find out how wrong you are”... Comments like these show me that you don’t do any research yourself and you just base your training off of what’s popular on tiktok. Mike Mentzer was said to be (and still is) the smartest bodybuilder of his time. He was ahead of his time trying to minimize fatigue and maximize effort.  He also transformed many bodybuilders by recommending them high-carb / low-fat diets and had quite a few more very true and effective opinions. However, not having the data that we have today led him to be false on a lot of topics. EX: “EZ-Bar curls don’t hit the biceps, they hit the brachialis” EZ-Bar Curls absolutely hit the biceps.  The Brachialis cannot be the prime mover in a curl due to how it’s leverage is the same as the biceps but much worse. Or how about how he would train every set to failure and only workout once every 4 days.  I understand where he’s coming from (attempting to maximize effort and minimize fatigue) But we will need to train more often than this to maximize hypertrophy.  The sweet spot seems to be training 3-4x a week (Training the given muscle 2-3x a week). And training at 2-0RIR instead of every set til’ failure. (PMID: 38393985) I could go on and on. At the end of the day, you shouldn’t be taking someone’s word for something without doing the research yourself, if you really want to maximize gains.
