@cleanthatup: Day 25/30 of the Spring Cleaning Spree and we’re going for an easy win. I’m going to deep clean my top loading washing machine. (If you have a front loader, don’t worry! I am working on finding one to clean and make a full tutorial on how to clean one. Especially the rubber seal that seems to get particularly nasty.)Our machines and tools that help us clean work hard and it’s important to keep them clean so they can keep doing their job effectively. Soap can buildup in the detergent trays over time, and if it’s really thick, start with rinsing it with hot water or repeatedly wiping with a damp microfiber cloth. Our machine has a filter particularly for pet hair. We try to clean that out after every cycle, but now is a good time to give it an extra wipe down. Because spring cleaning is a big job and I want to keep this job easy as possible, I am using a cleaning powder from Tide in order to get the inside drum clean. If you’re looking for a DIY option, you can also fill the drum with two cups of vinegar and run on the hottest cycle possible. I suggest choosing the extra rinse option when doing this to make sure all the vinegar gets completely rinsed out. I used to use the “cleaning” setting for the Tide powder but found that running a normal cycle on hot worked a lot better for my machine!

A cheaper and what I think is a better option is the active washer cleaning tablets on Amazon! They’re great, less that $20 for a year supply!
