@love2hvac: Replying to @love2hvac # 1 contamination issue is moisture from improper hydration that leads to acid, which leads to copper plating that leads to premature compressor failure. pulling a deep vacuum and an isolation or decay test over a period of time will ensure the system is dehydrated. Mineral oil was not affected by moisture as much, but now we have POE oil that's Hygroscopic and turns to an acid quickly. acid not only created leaks and eats the insulation off the windings but the copper floats the system and plates on the compressors moving parts. This increases the friction and reduces the lubrication of the moving components. Copeland scrolls do not need a hard start kit but are required after copper plating causes starting issues. testing for acid before, and performing acid cleanup before hand can prevent this. can you see 24,500th of an inch? we need digital micron vacuum meters to accurately check the vacuum. look at refrigeration Mentor and Copeland COSS classes to learn more. #hvac #hvacr #hvacarmy #love2hvac
