To quote BEYONCÉ…. “Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper” 💸🤭 I do not regret my art degree. But I do regret the price tag. I’m super privileged to have paid off this soul crushing debt in the time frame that I did. Every creative can use their talents for arts advocacy in whatever ways that suit them best. For me, I recognized that I have an entrepreneurial spirit and knew the most valuable thing I could offer other artists was a community where we can talk about the things no one wants to talk about in our circles. Financial stigma is HUGE in the creative industry. But it doesn’t have to be this way! I have always embraced sharing tips, tricks, advice and experience in hopes that it can help someone else get where they need to be in their career. There is enough room for all of us, and there’s no shame in sharing both struggle and success stories. One of the ways I’ve been able to directly put funds into other artists pockets was by opening my gift shop @cocodriecollective , where we stock a ton of artists and pay them out monthly on consignment. We only opened a year and a half ago, so we’re still growing, and plan to soon offer fully funded design projects. Anyways, I’m just rambling at this point but!!! I’m so excited to see what’s next for my businesses and where my art takes me next.
