Thanks makes sense. I am in transition between giving up one and keepting the other but it takes a year ot 2 to move assets, work, school, etc

The biggest problem would be a green card holder wanting to maintain health benefits in Canada as there are residency requirements.

Brad is incorrect on this. You only need to live in Canada for 730 days in the last 5 years to maintain PR. You can meet requirements for both.

If spouse is Canadian; the PR spouse can maintain their PR without stepping a foot in Canada…my wife is the example; 7 years already
